I haven’t seen fairy tail. I was watching Sword Art Online and Sword Art Online II and all of their female characters are written from a very sexist perspective. I realize they’re supposed to be teenage characters in an online game but still there’s very blatant sexism.
I also realize there are much worse anime shows where they pander to their horny 13-18 year old boy audiences by making boobs and butts jiggle all over the place and for some reason the main female characters are often extremely lustful or needy and the main male characters are heroic. Sex sells, I get it.
I just figured in a show about an online game that’s supposed to be action/fantasy genre they wouldn’t have scenes where the strongest female character wants to resign to being a housewife??? or where the strongest sniper in the game is a fucking crybaby and falls apart emotionally every 5 seconds once the male lead comes along. How tf did she get to be the strongest player in the game before he got there if she was that much of a sexist “damsel in distress” stereotype?
anyway these were just some things that kind of surprised me since I haven’t watched any new anime since like 2009-ish?
Maybe my viewpoint has changed since then and I just didn’t notice the sexism as much before.
when a guy says he likes it rough
I hadn’t watched any current anime in a long time until recently.
I am noticing that unless the anime is made with a female target audience in mind, Japan is still pretty sexist.
It’s a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you’re ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything. There is almost no such thing as ready. There is only now. And you may as well do it now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any.
